  • Responsible for overseeing the day to day scheduling and planning of the Transport operation, working closely with planning to ensure vehicle utilisation is maximised and service level agreements are adhered to
  • Working with Trade Unions and/or employee representatives and managing working relationships
  • Knowledge and understanding and practical implementation of all legislative requirements
  • Effectively manage the balance of service and cost, while maintaining legal compliance
  • To work effectively when dealing face to face with customers and as a team with other departments to achieve objectives
  • To work alongside the Compliance Manager to ensure fleet complies with all statutory regulations
  • Ensure that all jobs are carried out by the most cost effective and efficient means
  • Ensure key performance indicators relating to timeline and store deliveries are achieved
  • Provide direction and clear instructions to supporting team
  • Liaise with stores and field management teams on any delivery delays
  • Assist colleagues as and when required with transport transactional tasks
  • Manage and ensure all legislative requirements are complied with in relation to Health and Safety, Working Time Directive, Road Transport Regulations and Employment Law
  • Interface with distribution management colleagues on-site in order to maintain operational efficiencies

Minimum Criteria to Apply

  • Good geographical knowledge and experience of Microlise Vehicle Tracking System is desirable
  • In depth knowledge and experience of Health and Safety including accident/incident reporting
  • Experience of effective resource planning and allocation
  • Knowledge and experience of recruitment, training and development of staff
  • Experience of peak planning and volume delivery
  • Holder of CPC National
  • Effective Contractor control; including permits to work, site inductions and service level agreements
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a logistics management role
