  • Ensure loading bays and de-kit are serviced in a timely manner with trailers and other vehicles
  • Rota trailers/vehicles on/off loading bays efficiently, avoiding possible operational delays
  • Liaise with Transport and Loading on a regular basis for any specific requirements
  • Clarify any vehicles that may be VOR and cross reference against the daily VOR report issued by Transport at the start of each shift
  • Advise Transport on any issues within the yard that may have an impact or cause concern i.e. loading bays requiring attention, loading bay lights not working, areas within the yard that may require the Yard Cleaner to attend
  • Ensure the yard is safe to use in cold conditions by ploughing and gritting and using the equipment provided (i.e. Gritter and Plough) when necessary
  • Ensure equipment is parked in the appropriate places, causing minimum obstruction/disruption to pedestrians
  • Carry out relevant shunt vehicle checks at the start of each shift and keep the shunt vehicles in a clean and tidy condition at all times
  • Assist in keeping the fleet clean by use of the vehicle wash
  • Check vehicles/trailers for relevant servicing for current week
  • Check Double Deck loading bays are in good condition

Package Description

  • Night shift - 16:00 - 04:00 hrs
  • 12 hours days, 4 on 4 off 
  • 5.6 weeks paid holiday per year including bank and public holiday allowance rising to 6.6 weeks upon 5 years' service

Minimum Criteria to Apply

  • Valid C+E Driving Licence
  • Current Driver Certificate of Professional Competence card (DCPC) is essential
  • Insurer requirements - minimum of 25 years of age
  • Role requirement - minimum of 2 years' recent experience working as a Shunter
  • Practically demonstrates health and safety standards
  • Understanding and working knowledge of WTR; EU driver hours and working time rules
  • Task orientated approach
  • Minimal infringements
  • Candidates invited to site will be required to successfully pass an internal Shunter/Driver assessment
