Systems Operator

Do you thrive on solving problems and ensuring systems run like clockwork? Based at our state-of-the-art Omega Distribution Centre, located at the Omega Business Park just off Junction 8 of the M62, we are looking for System Operators to help keep our advanced automation technology running smoothly.

In this role, you’ll be at the heart of our warehouse operations, ensuring the continuous flow of products through our automated systems. Reporting to the Section Managers you’ll oversee equipment such as conveyors and cranes, troubleshoot any faults, and support technicians and engineers in maintaining optimal performance.

With a hands-on approach, you’ll take responsibility for preventative maintenance, ensure work areas meet the highest standards, and follow all health and safety protocols. By collaborating with teams across the site, you’ll play a key role in keeping our automated systems efficient and reliable.

About the Role

Job Overview

  • Automated System Flow: Manage the continuous flow of products through designated action points in the warehouse automation system.
  • Equipment Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Maintain and troubleshoot equipment, such as conveyors, cranes, and PLCs, to minimise downtime.
  • Fault Analysis: Identify and analyse recurring faults to optimise system performance.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks to ensure all equipment operates efficiently.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with system technicians, engineers, and other teams to resolve issues and maintain seamless operations.
  • Hygiene Standards: Maintain equipment and work areas to the highest hygiene standards.
  • Health and Safety Compliance: Follow all health and safety protocols, including working at height when necessary, and ensure 100% compliance with training requirements.
  • System Understanding: Develop a comprehensive understanding of the end-to-end flow of products through the automation system and the impact of any interruptions.

Package Description

  • £15.45 per hour
  • Shift pattern - 3 on 3 off
    • Days - 7am to 7pm
  • 5.6 weeks paid holiday per year including bank and public holiday allowance rising to 6.6 weeks upon 5 years' service

Minimum Criteria to Apply

  • Interest in technical and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to work and rescue at height (training provided).
  • Understanding of automation within a warehouse environment is desirable (full training will be given).
  • Proficient in working with PCs (Windows-based systems).
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workload effectively.
  • Team-oriented mindset with a proactive approach to tasks.
